I bought an led tail light for my 99 vmax. It was made for a gen 2. I hooked it up and it keeps blowing my turn signal fuse. Should I install a resistor to fix or try a different tail light?

All LED lights need a load resistor in line on the power side...

I just went through a similar problem on my '98. I replaced my brake light with an LED light with no problem. The problem came when I installed LED turn signals. With the front set installed everything was fine but when I hooked up the rears all the signals would flash at the same time. I bought a diode kit from Kuryakyn (7.99) installed in about an hour (i'm no mech) and the problem was solved.
