You can put a Metzler 880 180-70-15 on the stock rim and I have used Pirelli Diablo in a 180-70-15 both tires are H rated.
I have pushed these tires to the 150MPH range with no problems. V rated is recommended but how much time do you spend above 135. I have found the wider the tire the harder it is to sling your bike from side to side in the curves. I have radials on my bikes now and run a 180-55-18 and a 180-55-17. 18" is a Bridgstone Excedra G850 which I love and 17" I use a Shinko podium which is soft with allot of grip and a Continental or a Dunlop Sport Max. I get about 2,200 Mi. out of either of these tires from Chicken strip to Chicken strip. Metzler Z6 and Avon tires didn`t suit me at all. Shinko gripped better than any of them but are a hard tire to balance. I use balance beads now which seam to work good. No problem so far. My advice is to use the 70 series instead of the 80s in the bias ply tire, it is a lower profile tire.

I replaced the rear rim this fall with an 18" and I'm running the Bridgestone Excedra 180/55/18 rear and 110/80/18 front. I've only put about 700km on them this fall but wow what a difference the radials make.....I love it
