Hi. I have a Gen 1 Vmax that i have owned since 1985. It is in very nice shape and has had most of the good mods done to it. It has a PCW 1500 HO engine, Hindle pipe with a nice Yoshimura CF can, Dyna 3000 ignition, stage 7 jet kit and K and N separates as recommended by John Garney. The shop installed the engine this time and put in jets as they were shown in the dyno sheet from PCW. I installed the stage 7 kit and K and N's after.
The bike seemed to run very rich with this setup so I lowered the needles by one notch. This seemed to help but the throttle response is still not great and it seems to need to "clear it's throat" a bit if I grab a handful after cruising for a while. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this or a similar setup and could point me towards a good starting point for jets and needle settings. The pilots are clean and the sync good. I am near sea level on the west coast. Any info greatly appreciated. thanks Tom
