The original Bridgestone tyres fitted to the Gen 2 Vmax are a very good match for this bike. Traction is reasonable and the dry grip is actually extremely good. I found the wet grip to also be very good.

After about 9000 miles the stock tyres were dead and i fitted a set of the ME880 Metzlers which have proven to be great tyres both wet and dry with probably even better rear grip but I think they will not last as long as the OEM tyres. I will still stick to the Metzlers as I feel they are better overall for wet and dry grip.

I tried the Shinko Verge 001s. Traction was fine in wet or dry. I got 17K kms when cracks in the front tire showed up. There is very little tread in the Shinko. For that reason I went back to the OEM Bridgestones.
